Novell has announced an update to its industrial distribution SUSE Linux Enterprise 11 Service Pack 1 (SP1). Claimed improvements include virtualization technologies (Xen, KVM), clustering, file system, offering support for "iron" and adding new features of the desktop.
Distribution can be downloaded and used free of charge, but with a 60-day limit for obtaining updates and patches.
A key change in the new version is a departure from the practice of supply throughout the support line of one branch distribution kernel, which made permanent bekportirovanie new features and drivers. Used in SUSE 11 kernel version 2.6.27 with Service Pack 1 is replaced by the kernel 2.6.32.
In the wording of the distribution for the desktop has improved support for working with audio and Bluetooth, a kit includes the latest versions of popular applications, such as Firefox, OpenOffice.org and Evolution, improved compatibility with the Windows platform and product Microsoft Exchange.
