`See the mysteries under the skin.' Maybe you have heard about the famous exhibition that has shocked and fascinated people from all over the world. Body Worlds is the exhibition that uses real people's dead bodies to show us how our bodies work.
More than nine million people have visited the exhibition in Japan,
Germany , Austria and Belgium and now it is touring in the United Kingdom and Korea. This makes it the most successful exhibition of all time. In the exhibition, bodies of people that lived are on display . Their skin is taken off so that you can see the muscles and organs of the
bodies. They have been plastinated so that they will stay as they are for many, many years. After plastination, the bodies can be displayed in lifelike ways. In the exhibition one man rides a horse. Another person is playing chess and thinking about the next move. And another is holding up his skin as if it is a coat. There are many different thoughts and opinions of Body Worlds. Many people are angry about the exhibition. They say that it is wrong to use body parts from real men and women as art. They are shocked that dead bodies are in an exhibition where anyone can see. Usually these things are only seen by doctors and people who work in medicine. But, many others say that Body Worlds is a good thing. It is fascinating and people can learn about their bodies. The person who made the exhibition, Professor Gunther Von Hagens says that he wanted to help people to learn about the body and how it works. He strongly believes that it is important for everyday people to know things about the body that are usually known only by doctors. Is this a good thing? Many people who see the exhibition think so. Fifty percent leave the exhibition wanting to look after their health more. Ten per cent of people who smoke stop immediately ( In the exhibition people can see different organs, They can compare healthy and diseased organs. For example, there is a pair of pink, healthy lungs next to a black, unhealthy pair).
