پس از تاخير چند هفته اي در انتشار نسخه نهايي ويژوال استوديو 2010، انتظار مي رود كه تاريخ 12 آوريل زمان رونمايي محصول جديد مايكروسافت باشد. ويژوال استوديو 2010 با ورژن ها، اسامي  و قابليت هاي جديد نسبت به نسخه هاي قبلي ارائه خواهد شد. 

بررسي Visual Studio 2008 Team System و نسخه هاي مختلف آن مي تواند تا حدود زيادي تغييرات حاصل در نسخه 2010 را منعكس كند. در تصوير زير نسخه هاي پنج گانه ورژن 2008 نشان داده شده اند.

همانطور كه مشاهده مي شود تمامي نسخه هاي ورژن 2008 بر مبناي Visual Studio Professional Edition ارائه شده اند. اين نسخه ها عبارت اند از:

نسخه معماران نرم افزار كه امكان طراحي و مدل كردن نرم افزار را در اختيار طراحان و متخصصان IT قرار داد.

نسخه توسعه دهندگان نرم افزار كه با امكانات بهينه جهت تسهيل كدنويسي و توسعه برنامه هاي دات نت ارائه شد.

نگاهي به نسخه هاي ارائه شده در ورژن 2010 كه در تصوير زير ارائه شده است نشان مي دهد كه مايكروسافت در صدد تسهيل برخورد متخصصان حوزه هاي مختلف با ويژوال استوديو برآمده است.

همانطور كه مشاهده مي شود مبناي ورژن جديد، 2010 Visual Studio Professional مي باشد. اين نسخه امكانات پايه اي لازم براي توسعه نرم افزار و كدنويسي را فراهم مي كند. در ضمن امكاناتي را نيز در اختيار تست كنندگان برنامه هاي دات نت قرار مي دهد. 

اولين نسخه، Visual Studio Premium مي باشد كه نام جديدي در ورژن هاي ويژوال استوديو به شمار مي رود. اين نسخه تركيبي از ويژگي هاي نسخه توسعه دهندگان نرم افزار و متخصصان پايگاه داده ها را فراهم مي كند.

Visual Studio Test Elements نيز ورژن جديد ديگر با نامي متفاوت است كه در بسته 2010 ارائه شده است. اين ورژن امكانات تخصصي از قبيل test case management tools و manual testing elements را فراهم كرده است. قابل ذكر است كه امكان كدنويسي در اين نسخه وجود ندارد و از آن فقط براي تست كردن برنامه ها مي توان استفاده كرد.

آخرين نسخه Visual Studio Ultimate 2010 مي باشد كه ويژگي هاي دو نسخه قبلي را به صورت متجمع ارائه مي دهد. همچنين امكانات جديد مدل كردن نرم افزار و UML در كنار طراحي وب در اين نسخه فراهم شده اند.

چارچوب دات‌نت یا همان ( DotNet FrameWork ) یک فناوری نرم‌افزاری است که بر روی بسیاری از نسخه های سیستم عامل مایکروسافت ویندوز قابل اجراست. به طور عمده این چارچوب از دو بخش اصلی تشکیل شده است، بخش اول یک کتابخانه‌ی عظیم از توابع و کدهای از پیش نوشته شده است که برنامه نویسان به راحتی از آنها استفاده می‌کنند و بخش دیگر یک ماشین مجازی ( Virtual Machine ) برای اجرای برنامه هایی است که تحت این چارچوب نوشته شده‌اند. قابل ذکر است که برای اجرای برنامه‌ های تحت این چارچوب نصب بودن آن الزامی است. به دلیل مزیت های بسیاری که این چارچوب نسبت به سبک قدیمی تولید برنامه‌ها دارد بسیاری از برنامه های جدید که برای سیستم عامل ویندوز نوشته می‌شوند از این کتابخانه استفاده می‌کنند. کتابخانه های از پیش نوشته شده که در این چارچوب قرار دارند و در واقع پایه‌های اشیاء و کلاس‌های اصلی ( Base Classes ) این چارچوب را تشکیل می‌دهند بخش وسیعی از نیازهای برنامه نویسی را تحت پوشش قرار می‌دهند. از این جمله می‌توان به واسط های گرافیکی کاربر، دسترسی به پایگاه های داده، رمزنگاری، برنامه‌های تحت وب، الگوریتم های کار با اعداد و ارتباطات شبکه‌ای را نام برد. در ژوئن سال ۲۰۰۰، شرکت مایکروسافت ایجاد چهارچوب نرم افزاری دات‌نت، به همراه یک زبان برنامه نویسی جدید به نام سی شارپ را اعلام کرد. چارچوب دات‌نت یک مجموعهٔ وسیع از امکانات برنامه‌نویسی است. زبانهای سی‌شارپ (# C ) و ویژوال بیسیک دات‌نت (وی‌بی دات‌نت) و جِی شارپ (# J ) و ای‌اس‌پی دات‌نت ( ASP.net ) همگی از چارچوب دات‌نت استفاده می‌کنند. برنامه‌های نوشته شده در این چهارچوب، ابتدا به زبان میانی مایکروسافت و متاداده ( metadata ) ترجمه شده و سپس توسط CLR اجرا می‌شوند. دات نت باعث شد که قدرت برنامه نویسی در زبانهای تحت این چارچوب یکسان شود و تفاوت فقط در نوع کد نویسی باقی بماند. چون ابزار و قدرت در دات نت از خواص دات نت است، نه زبان. تغییر عمده ای که در برنامه نویسی با دات نت نسبت به گذشته قابل رویت است نحوه اتصال به پایگاه داده است که علاوه بر روشهای قدیمی مانند DAO و ADO میتوان از فناوری جدید ADO.net استفاده کرد. در این روش نحوه اتصال، خواندن و نوشتن کاملا متفاوت است که این تفاوت تسهیل در برنامه نویسی و سرعت در تبادل اطلاعات را به ارمغان میآورد. 1- این نسخه با نسخه 3.5 سرویس پک 1 و نسخه 4 دات نت فریم ورک سازگاری کامل دارد. 2- نوآوری های و امکانات جدید در زبانهای C# و Visual Basic ایجاد شده است. 3- امکاناتی در ASP.NET برای کنترل نمودارها و استفاده از تکنولوژی AJAX پیاده سازی شده است. 4- امکاناتی برای ایجاد نرم افزارهایی که بتوانند از امکانات جدید ویندوز 7 استفاده کنند طراحی شده است. و ... 1- این نسخه نهایی است و از حالت آزمایشی خارج شده است. 2- این نسخه هنوز تست نشده ولی ظاهرا فقط 32 بیتی است. 3- این نسخه بدون نیاز به سریال و کرک و فعالسازی نصب شده و کار می کند و هیچ محدودیت زمانی و ساختاری ندارد. 4- هنوز در مورد همراه بودن راهنمای MSDN با این مجموعه اطلاعاتی در دست نیست. بعد از تست اطلاعات این صفحه به روز می شود.
